Dear Fifth Graders,
Welcome back! I am really looking forward to meeting you in just a few short weeks, and I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. My name is Mrs. Brooks, and I am thrilled to be joining the 5th grade team at The Cove. I have taught fifth grade for the past four years, and I cannot wait to embark on a fifth! I am an avid reader and I love to be outdoors. I spent my summer enjoying the beaches of Cape Cod, hiking and relaxing in Vermont, and taking a whirlwind trip to Europe with my husband. I’m sure you have had plenty of adventures this summer as well, and I can’t wait to hear all about them when we meet in September.
As for this coming year, we have plenty of excitement awaiting us. Mrs. Green (Ms. MacLean), Mrs. Russo, Mrs. Dooley and I have already been planning how to make your fifth grade year a success. We will be delving into books, exploring scientific concepts, developing our math skills, and refining our writing abilities. Mrs. Green will be guiding you through historical events in Social Studies. We will also spend lots of time getting to know one another. We will learn how to work together as classmates, and how to celebrate the many talents that each of you brings to the classroom.
For the first day, please be sure to arrive with an independent reading book at your level and any supplies from our supply list that you were able to purchase. I hope that you take time to savor these last few weeks of summer. Enjoy extra time with family and friends, and be sure to soak up the warm weather while it’s here! If you get the chance, don’t forget to finish up a summer read or brush up on your multiplication facts. See you on September 3rd!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Brooks
