Attention Parents: Tomorrow is our coffee shop! We are very excited for our first one of the year. Students should remember to practice their autumn poems tonight, and should come to school tomorrow with their own mug for hot chocolate. Looking forward to a successful day!
We will be visiting the vernal pool for our autumn visit this week! We will head out to see what the vernal pool looks like in this new season, and we will hopefully see plenty of water in the pool after last week's rain! Students are asked to either wear boots or an old pair of sneakers with long pants on Wednesday. We are expecting the path to be muddy after the rain, but we are excited to get back outside to observe and explore.
Thank you! This past week we had some special events we would like to share! On Friday, Change is Simple came to talk to the fifth grade. They raised awareness about local produce, and we took part in an engaging map activity. To learn more, check out their website at http://www.changeissimple.org/
Also, on Friday afternoon we had our second day of Book Buddies with Mrs. Roy's kindergarden class. I am posting a video of the activity we took part in. The students had read a book about paper airplanes, so we were able to help the students make airplanes of their own. Of course, we had to take them outside to try them! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJvYLHeZG1g Tomorrow night is the Book Fair! Families are invited to come to The Cove School Library from 6:00-8:00 PM to look through the book fair, purchase an ice cream sundae, and enjoy a complimentary showing of Frozen (with popcorn!) starting at 6:00. Hope to see you there :)
Thank you to all the parents who came to Curriculum Night tonight! It was wonderful to see you and to dive into what we will be learning this year. One of the big topics was The Common Core Standards. We discussed how they will be effecting our instruction this year, as well as how they will be assessed through PARCC in May. If you would like to learn more, please use the link below to peruse the Common Core website. They have great information for parents, and all the standards are available for viewing. Please email me with any questions you have as you're looking through. Thanks again for a great Curriculum Night!
